Moose Jaw Canucks U18 AA Drop Early Morning Game

After yesterday’s high scoring victory the Moose Jaw Canucks U18 AA team found themselves on the wrong end of the bat early this morning in the Tier Two U18 AA provincial championships in Saskatoon.

The Canucks scored a lot of runs but unfortunately fell 18 - 11 to the Lumsden Cubs.

The Canucks record is now 1 - 1 in the seven team weekend provincial championship tournament.

Lumsden got on the scoreboard first on a single by Brenden Cey in the first inning.

The Canucks took a 3 - 2 lead in the bottom of the first on strong batting.

Tyson Ross tripled scoring a run followed up by a single by Spencer Craig that drove in two runs.

The Cubs would go ahead 5 - 3 in their half of the second inning.

The Canucks however responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 5 - 5.

Moose Jaw scored on an error and also a single by Riley Cushway.

The Cubs would take a 6 - 5 lead after the third inning.

The top of the fifth inning would be the undoing of the Canucks.

The Cubs would score six runs on three hits to take the lead.

The Canucks managed 12 hits in the game.

Hit leaders for Moose Jaw were Tyson Ross and Spencer Craig who both had three hits.

Moose Jaw played a clean game and did not commit a single error in the field.

Lumsden had 19 hits in the game with Brenden Cey - batting in the middle of the order - with five runs batted in.

The Canucks next game is today at 1 pm a rematch of last night against the Saskatoon Athletics.

The game is a must win to keep the Canucks in the tournament.

In Friday’s game the Canucks relied on their bats to defeat the Athletics 17 - 12.
