Mixed Bag In Education Capital Projects For The City

With the announcement of the 2021 - 2022 Saskatchewan Budget yesterday two local projects are set or will receive continued capital funding. Another one did not receive the green light this year.

The joint-use school proposed for South Hill, which still must go through a review process in order to receive final approval, was re-affirmed as receiving funding from $101.9 million to support 21 ongoing capital projects to build 16 new schools and renovate five existing schools province-wide.

A new elementary school requested by the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division for the West Park subdivision did not receive funding approval.

And Saskatchewan Polytechnical’s Moose Jaw campus received $6.0 million for the mezzanine replacement project.

An increase in the budget will also see the average homeowner pay an additional $18 per year in property school taxes.
