City Encourages Those 40 + To Attend Upcoming Vaccination Clinics

By Robert Thomas

For those of you 40 of years of age or older there are two more opportunities to be vaccinated for COVID - 19 coming to Moose Jaw and the City of Moose Jaw is encouraging residents to take advantage of the vaccine clinic opportunities.

After setting a lofty goal of making Moose Jaw the COVID - 19 vaccination capital of the province the City has issued a statement encouraging residents to get vaccinated for the virus which according to the Province has so far claimed 486 lives in Saskatchewan.

“I’m thankful to have received my first dose and we thank all Moose Javians who have received the vaccine,” Jim Puffalt, City Manager said in a statement. “We’re confident our residents will continue setting a Notoriously brisk vaccination pace for other Saskatchewan communities to follow. As soon as you’re eligible, we ask you to roll up your sleeve and Stick It To Covid.”

Despite a lower number of people in the 55+ age group taking advantage of the initial walk-in or drive-thru vaccination opportunities because the vaccine being used was AstraZeneca, the vaccination rate for the city sits at over 50 percent of residents over the age of 40 receiving at least one dose of vaccine through the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).

Numerous commentators under 55 years of age on MJ Independent’s Facebook social media feed commented at the time the SHA needed to drop the age requirements because if older residents were not interested in being vaccinated with the AstraZeneca that they would gladly take advantage of the opportunity.
