Large Canadian Flag To Greet Returning Snowbirds

For anyone wanting to see it a large Canadian flag will be stretched out over the sports field at Central Collegiate this afternoon.

The Snowbirds are returning back home to their Moose Jaw base after the accidental death of Captain Jennifer )Jenn) Casey on May 17th at Ksmloops, BC.

Casey died when the tutor she was s passenger in crashed just after takeoff

The Snowbirds were on a Canada-wide tour to lift spirits in the wake of the COVID - 19 coronavirus pandemic.

The pandemic has seen numerous businesses forced to temporarily close their doors and people beimg asked to stay home through much of March and April in hopes of preventing the spread of the virus.

Displaying the large Canadian flag is the brainchild of 15 Wing Honorary Colonel Lisa Franks. The large flag has been provided by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Residents are invited to make large hearts in sidewalk chalk or other creative displays to show the community's love and support in memory of Captain Casey.

Moose Jaw Fire Department, Moose Jaw Police Service and Moose Jaw & District Paramedics will provide a static display of vehicles in the shape of a heart in the Exhibition grounds to be visible by the plane upon the return.

Additionally, Wakamow Valley Authority is mowing a big heart at the bottom of 4th Avenue South.

The Snowbirds are expected to be returning home between 2:30 - 3 pm this afternoon.
