Free Transit Offered New Year's Eve

There won't be any fanfare or contests this year but if you are heading out to celebrate New Year's Eve with a few pints or other intoxicants and you don’t have a safe ride Moose Jaw Transit can get you from Point A to Point B safely.

For the 33rd year the City of Moose Jaw has teamed up with SGI to Find A Safe Ride with free Transit service to and from your New Year's Eve celebrations.

Starting at 7:55 pm - 3:55 am Moose Jaw Transit will be offering their regular fixed route service for free to get people to public as well as private gatherings.

The entire schedule is available at MooseJaw.ca/Transit.

Moose Jaw Transit's stops are within walking distance of most popular restaurants and bars in the city.

Additionally there has been specially added stops at the following locations to make it easier for New Year's celebrants to get to and from their party:

  • Brown’s Social House

  • The Crushed Can Rec Room & Bar/Cask 82

  • Chillers Brew Pub

  • Dooly’s Billiards & Lounge.

The aim is to cut down on people driving impaired on New Year's Eve.

“The New Year is a time to celebrate with friends and family, and getting home safe from those celebrations is paramount,” Moose Jaw Mayor Clive Tolley said in a statement.

“We thank SGI and all of our partners for helping Moose Javians Find a Safe Ride to and from your New Year’s celebration destination,” Mayor Tolley said in a statement.

It should be noted you don’t have to be drinking or imbibing in order to take advantage of the free transit service everyone is welcome on the bus - the only scheduled evening and night service Moose Jaw Transit offers.
