Hospital To Charge For Parking Starting Tuesday

The control arms were re-installed a couple of weeks ago but now it’s about to be official if you are headed out to the Wigmore Hospital on Tuesday be prepared to pay for parking.

Initially removed in April as hospital access, occupancy and services were suspended and/or restricted as part of the COVID - 19 measures come Tuesday the coveted Monopoly game spot of Free Parking is no more.

Patients, visitors and staff are now reminded to park in appropriate areas.

Since the new hospital's opening paid parking for patients and visitors has been controversial. The former health district saying it was necessary in order to pay for parking lot maintenance and snow clearing.

At the same time the Hospital asked the City to enforce a no parking zone leaving a large stretch of sidewalk adjacent to the roadway referred to by some locally as “the sidewalk to nowhere.”
