Out Cruising With A Parrot

It might have seemed strange if you stopped in for ice cream at a Thatcher Drive fast food about 1:30 pm on Sunday.

Yes that was a short tailed green parrot you saw outside enjoying the sunshine.

And no the parrot was not there with a marauding pirate.

The 25 year old parrot was on the way to his new home in Maple Creek after his owner passed away.

“We went to a funeral and never expected to come home with a parrot,” the new owner said.

Since the journey to the funeral back to Maple Creek is ten hours the new owners decided it was best to allow the parrot to travel in his cage instead of the cat carrier he is trained to ride in.

And so you know this species of parrot can live to be 75 years old.
