Provincial Cases Of Covid - 19 Jumps Again

The number of provincially confirmed and presumptive cases of Covid - 19 has once again grown day over day. There has been an additional six cases reported since Monday raising the total number province-wide to 72 confirmed cases.
Percentage-wise the number of cases is still higher in males but the percentage gap is now decreasing. Sixty percent of the cases are males and 40 per cent are females.

To date, 5,757 COVID-19 tests have been performed by the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory.
Of the 72 confirmed cases, two are 19 years of age and under, 59 are between the ages of 20 and 64 and 11 are 65 years and older.

In other news CBC News Saskatchewan has reported that the Province is not releasing the numbers of infected people who are in hospital or intensive care units. The CBC also released a leaked internal Saskatchewan Health Authority report which shows provincially the death toll could be into the thousands. The Province has stated the report which modelled the sick and death toll was only preliminary and the predictive model is still being refined.

The CBC Saskatchewan story reported the worst case scenario had a fatality rate provincially ranging from 9,000 - 15,000.

The provincial Saskatchewan's Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Saqib Shahab has said people need to be more dilligent to flatten the curve and more restrictions are forthcoming. He asks people to maintain social distancing and unless necessary stay at home.

Shahab has additionally called for no more house parties.

The Province is additionally ramping up capacity at existing acute care facilities and measures could include using such facilities as school gymnasiums and field hospitals.

The model is being regularily updated and it shows the worst case scenario the Province says. The model will now expand to a City and a regional model to help better utilize the services available.
