City Says Thanks But No Thanks For The Time Being

Does the City need more help in its battle with Covid - 19 was a question posed to Administration by a Councillor on Monday evening.

Councillor Crytal Froese said she had been contacted by individuals who wanted to know if the City was looking for more input and help from the community.

In response City Manager Jim Puffalt said that the City’s Emergency Measures was working as it was suppose to and did not need help or input at the present time.

Councillor Froese asked if the City would not benefit from input from other organizations and individuals such as 15 Wing, medical community, the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce amongst others.

“We are aware of the issues and who to talk to and having more people in the room is not always helpful,” Puffalt said. At present the City is working with the Province and the Chief Medical Officer in the fight to lower the curve and save lives.

About setting up an economic recovery team may well be too early and take away from other efforts to combat the spread of Covid - 19 he said when asked by Councillor Froese about setting up such a committee.

“At this time it might be premature. As the days go on we will have a better idea how this will impact Saskatchewan and Canada,” Puffalt said.
