Question Asked If City Monitoring Effects Of Rising Fuel Costs On Budget

For the second Council meeting in a row questions were asked about the effects of rapidly rising fuel prices were having on the City’s operations.

Councillor Crystal Froese, who missed the end of the previous Council meeting when a storm cut her virtual connection, asked if Administration was monitoring rising gas prices and the effects on the City. It was a question asked by Councillor Jamie Logan at the previous meeting.

“I know some other municipalities are starting to do this, (I am wondering) if we are doing tracking or projections on the impact the rising gas prices might have on our budget as that doesn’t seem to be changing much,” Councillor Froese asked.

Finance director Brian Acker said the City is actively monitoring rising fuel prices.

“Yes indeed we are doing projections on that. At the planning session next Monday there will be a report on budget priorities and it is coming out in that,” Acker responded.
