Moose Jaw High School Curlers Hit The Ice Saturday For Regional Bid

Three Moose Jaw high school curling teams have the opportunity to qualify for the regional playoffs tomorrow.

At the district playoffs in Gravelbourg the Vanier Collegiate team skipped by Kendall Ebbett lost their first game to Eyebrow.

Ebbett's rink then defeated Moose Jaw city champion Central Collegiate's Laine Burnham rink.

The Burnham rink lost their first game to Avonlea and as such the Central Collegiate team was eliminated in the double knockout tournament.

The Ebbett rink will now face Eyebrow in a rematch to decide second place and the final spot to advance to the regional playoffs.

Avonlea is the district high school boy's champion defeating Eyebrow to claim the crown.


Over on the mixed side it was a similar route with both the Peacock rink and Central rink each suffering a single loss.

The Moose Jaw teams will face each other for second place in regionals, a rematch of the Moose Jaw city championships.

The winner takes a berth to the regional finals.

The Peacock mixed rink skipped by Dayne Heisler won their first game against Mankota and then lost their second game to Glentworth.

Central's rink skipped by Blake Montgomery lost their first game Glentworth and then defeated Mankota in their second game

Both games go at 12:30 pm today (Saturday).
