Golden Mile Arena Going To The Dogs This Weekend

The Golden Mile Arena located on the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds (250 Thatcher Drive East) is literally going to the dogs this weekend in a good way as the Moose Jaw Dog Club holds its agility trials.

The event runs this evening until 8 pm and then returns both Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is FREE and spectators are welcome to attend.

The agility event is out on by the Moose Jaw Dog Club and has approximately 50 people and 75 dogs competing over the three day event.

The event will see dogs and owners compete at three different levels - starter (beginner), advanced and masters.

The dogs will run on four different types of courses - gamble (where the handler stays behind the line and directs the dog to do different things), the standard (following a course), snooker and jumpers (where there is tunnels and jumping).

Up And Over - It takes teamwork as a competitor runs the course along with her dog - MJ Independent photo

The event is a team sport where the dog must listen to the handler and the handler must handle the dog correctly.

The event is FREE with a concession on site.
