Milestone Flyers Score Shutout Victory To Kick Off Season
The Milestone Flyers won their first game of the season with a 4 - 0 shutout victory against the Warman Bengals in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League (SFHL) U18A action on Sunday afternoon.
The visiting Milestone squad - which has four players (Nikita Halyk, Ember DuSomme, Sydney Ellingson and Taryn Sandbeck) from Moose Jaw’s Maverick system - scored late in the first period and then had a trio of goals in the second period to wrap up the shutout victory.
Kam Kaufman came up with the shutout.
Milestone opened the scoring with just seconds remaining in the first period at 00:03.4 mark when DuSomme scored assisted by Ellingson.
The Flyers second goal was scored unassisted by Kara Farris at 17:06 of the second period.
The Flyers third goal was scored by Elingson assisted by DuSomme at the 11;11 mark of the second period.
The final goal was unassisted by Callie Callinghan at 10:52 of the second period.
The Flyers managed to fight off two penalties in the third on the way to the shutout.
The Milestone Flyers next game is an away game versus the Southwest Cyclones in Gull Lake on November 13th.
