MLA Points Out Progress In Moose Jaw
By Warren Michelson - Moose Jaw North MLA
I was pleased to chat with Rob Carney during the CHAB Family First Radiothon last week, in our impressive F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital. As I observed the actions at the hospital, I thought of the progress we have seen in Moose Jaw in my time as an MLA.
The hospital was certainly the highlight; however it is only a part of significant investments in several areas.
The announcement of a new Public and Catholic joint-use school in the recent budget is very exciting news.
The SaskPower natural gas power plant will add jobs to our area, and encourage investment in the Southeast Industrial Park.
The North Service Road has been upgraded.
Campsites have been added and upgrades continue at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park.
Industry has recognized the positive investment climate in Saskatchewan, so we now have companies like K+S Potash and Agrocorp Processing adding to our economy.
Economic growth has allowed for improved social supports. Almost 100 new social housing units have been constructed. The ninth Habitat for Humanity home is presently being built here in Moose Jaw, and nearly 200 daycare spaces have been added.
The Police and Crisis Team, mental health professionals now work with city police when they are called to respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. A new Community Recovery Team in Moose Jaw is providing more intensive supports for people living with complex, persistent mental health challenges. New housing has been constructed for residents with complex situations.
We have experienced substantial improvements in many areas and appreciate new opportunities. We also encourage your suggestions as to exciting new ideas that would benefit our community. Please feel free to stop by our office at 326 High St. W, or send us an email at moosejawnorthmla@shaw.ca.
