Police Warn Alleged Youth Pranksters

Submitted by the Moose Jaw Police Service

In recent weeks, the Moose Jaw Police Service has seen an increase in adolescents playing doorbell pranks on residents within the city.

The prank commonly known as “Ding, Dong, Ditch” or “Nicky, Nicky, Nine Doors” involves a person ringing the doorbell of a house and then running away before the door can be answered.

Reports of this prank have occurred in the late evening and in some instances the early morning hours.

If adolescents are found committing this action, officers may give a warning, but serious consequences could occur for repeat offenders, such as being charged criminally.

The Moose Jaw Police Service asks children and adolescents to refrain from performing this prank on residences.

We are encouraging parents to talk with their children about the ramifications of performing this type of prank.

Residents are asked that if they witness this prank being performed, they report it to the Police.

Anyone with further information please contact CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477 or the Moose Jaw Police Service at (306) 694-7600.
