Brandt Releases Statement On Tragic Accident
The company where a 26 year old worker was killed in an industrial accident on Wednesday has released a statement providing more details of the tragic accident.
Brandt Industries, which operates a trailer manufacturing plant on Lancaster Road - often referred to as the old Phillip’s Cable plant - said the investigation was on-going into the tragic incident.
"On the afternoon of Aug. 16, 2023, a work-related incident occurred at Brandt’s Moose Jaw manufacturing site involving a third-party crane company that has resulted in the death of a Brandt employee. The worker was a supervisor at Brandt’s Moose Jaw location and was a valued member of the Brandt Family for nine years," Brandt said in a release.
The company said it was providing grief counselling to assist employees in dealing with the tragedy.
"Brandt has extended its deepest condolences to the worker’s family and is co-ordinating grief counsellors to aid employees in this especially difficult time.”
Brandt’s release went on to state the exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined and the company as well as the government were in the process of determining the exact cause.
“The exact cause of the incident is unknown at this time and the incident is under investigation by both Brandt and Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety,” the release stated.
The identity of the 26 year old worker killed in the accident has yet to be released and Brandt stated out of respect for the employee’s family no other comments would be made.
"Out of respect for the family and due to the ongoing investigation, Brandt will not be commenting further at this time."
