Shovel Used To Thwart Home Invasion
VICTIM USED SHOVEL TO DEFEND AGAINST ALLEGED KNIFE ATTACK - victim knew alleged attacker’s identity despite wearing a disguise

In the early hours of July 8, 2023, police recieved a break and enter complaint where a male had been attacked in his own home by another male with a knife.
The attacker was known to him despite the attacker wearing a mask to try and disquise his identity.
The attacker fled prior to police arriving and a search of the area did not immediately locate him.
The victim provided police with a detailed description of the assault including the identity of the attacker.
The victim was able to fend off the attacker using a shovel as a defensive tool and struck the attacker as he was lunged at with a knife.
Fortunately the victim sustained only minor injuries and did not need medical treatment but was left shaken by the event.
Police were able to locate and arrest the attacker a few hours later. He was remanded into custody on charges including
Break and Enter with intent to committ an Assault with a Weapon and Wearing a Disguise with Intent to commit an Indictable Offence. The male will appear in court on Monday July 10, 2023.
Police continue to investigate this offence.
