Wakamow To Be A Contested SaskParty Nomination
Although it hasn’t been officially announced yet MJ Independent has learnt from reliable sources there will be a contested SaskParty nomination for the Moose Jaw Wakamow constituency.
Megan Patterson, a former SaskParty candidate, is set to officially announce her intentions to challenge sitting Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Greg Lawrence for the nomination.
Sources also say Patterson informed Lawrence prior to her unofficial campaign to test the waters for support.
Patterson came in a distant second in the 2020 general election behind the NDP’s Carla Beck in Regina Lakeview constituency.
Regina Lakeview is considered to be an NDP stronghold with the Party holding the seat by wide margins since 1986.
Patterson, a Moose Jaw native, is presently employed at Sask Polytechnic’s Moose Jaw campus.
Megan Patterson is not to be confused with Melissa Patterson who ran for the NDP in the constituency losing to Lawrence in the 2020 general election.
As an aside Melissa Patterson is expected to seek the NDP nomination which if the stars align could lead to an M Patterson versus M Patterson showdown in the next election.
The next provincial general election is expected to be held in October 2024.
