Alleged Fraud Artist Likely Bilked Dozens

A woman who told people and businesses she had a terminal illness in order to receive donations is facing fraud charges.

Twenty eight year old Katelyn Maie Ann Carle has been charged with 53 counts of Fraud Under $5,000, after defrauding local businesses and residents by falsely stating that she had a teminal illness.

In total, from December 2021 to Januay 2022, Carle defrauded local businesses and residents approximately $16,000, by way of organized fundraisers and other financial assistance.

Those individuals who assisted in organizing the fundraisers were not complicit in these offences.

The Moose Jaw Police Sevice is in the process of contacting the victims of these offenses.
