Stabbing Suspect Makes First Court Appearance

A 21 year old man charged in connection with an alleged Friday night stabbing on the 0 block of Manitoba Street East will have a few more days in custody.
Appearing before Judge Darryl Rayner the accused, dressed in white prison coveralls, Colewyn Terrell Montana is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
Additionally he is charged with common assault from an alleged incident in November 2021 and failure to appear in court on that charge.
The matter was set over until Thursday July 14th to allow a bail verification report to be prepared for a show cause hearing on that date. Bail was opposed by the Federal Crown.
Montana will appear by video at his next court appearance Judge Rayner additionally ordered.
The alleged stabbing took place at approximately 10:20 pm with the victim taken to the F W Wigmore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
As with all criminal court matters the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
