Accused Animal Abuser Once Again Has Case Adjourned

It only took five words from the Defense on Tuesday morning but once again an alleged animal cruelty case dating back over two years has been adjourned.

This time it is adjourned until February 24th.

Appearing for the accused, Robyn Ashley St. Laurent, Regina Legal Aid lawyer Adam Fritzler asked for a further adjournment. St Laurent did not attend Court.

“Defense request for February 24th,” the Court was asked by Fritzler.

A request Judge Brian Hendrickson agreed to.

At St Laurent’s January 27th court appearance Judge Darryl Rayner set the matter over for plea and the matter to be dealt with on February 15th.

Former Moose Jaw and now Vibank resident St Laurent is alleged to have willing caused unnecessary suffering to cats and dogs by failing to provide the necessities of life, veterinary care and sanitary conditions in violation of section 451.1 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada between July 15, 2019 to October 25, 2019.

Additionally St Laurent is charged under the provincial act for cruelty to animals and failing to appear in court in relation to the case.

St Laurent remains released in the community under conditions which include she is suppose to refrain from owning, having custody of or residing in a premises where there are animals or birds.

The Accused is considered innocent until proven so in a court of law.
