City To Return To Most Pre-Pandemic Procedures Starting On Sunday

With the Province relaxing most of the restrictions in relation to the COVID - 19 pandemic this Sunday July 11th there will be changes happening at various City-owned and operated facilities.

City Hall will relax COVID - 19 restrictions but in turn add some new restrictions not existing pre-pandemic when it comes to security and accessing Administration.

The following are the changes coming to City Hall:

• Visitors are not required to wear masks.

• Health screening is no longer required, but a Commissionaire will now execute security screening for visitors requesting to enter the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of City Hall. Screening will not be required for customers visiting City Hall to pay a bill. This is a new requirement that did not exist before the pandemic.

• Effective Monday, July 12, screening questions will include name, time, purpose of visit, and the time the person left.

• Appointments will continue to be required for the Mayor’s Office, City Manager’s Office, Information Technology Department and the Human Resource Services Department.

• City Hall hours of operation for the public will remain 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The City Hall switchboard (306-694-4400) will be answered between 8:15 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. weekdays (except statutory holidays). This is a reduction of accessible hours for non-staff to access City Hall making Moose Jaw have the least hours of any city in the province for non-staff access to city hall.

The Kinsmen Sportsplex/Phyllis Dewar Outdoor Pool/Yara Centre will be making the following changes:

• Visitors are not required to wear masks.

• Capacity limits at recreation facilities return to pre-pandemic levels.

• Increased sanitization practices will continue.

• The Kinsmen Sportsplex steam room will reopen July 11.

• Online booking is still encouraged for recreation activities (use the Online Recreation Registration link at MooseJaw.ca or on the free City of Moose Jaw app).

• Walk-in customers are welcome as long as there is space remaining for the respective activity.

• Swimming lessons will return to in-water instruction, and parents will not be required to attend with children in the normally unparented classes.

The Playground Program will see the following changes:

• Masks are not required and attendees will be able to utilize the shacks when there is inclement weather.

Moose Jaw Transit will see some major changes returning mostly to pre-pandemic rules and operations:

• Riders are no longer required to wear masks and increased sanitization will continue.

• Passenger capacity returns to pre-pandemic levels.
