Mosaic Place To Change Name
With the naming rights agreement for Mosaic Place set to expire later this year the City and the Mosaic Company have announced the facility will undergo a name change.
“For the past decade, we have proudly attached our company name to Mosaic Place, a facility that is an important center to the community of Moose Jaw, where nearly 250 Mosaic employees call home,” said Sarah Fedorchuk, Vice President Public Affairs and Government Relations with The Mosaic Company.
“While our naming rights agreement is ending, we remain a proud and committed partner to the City of Moose Jaw,” Fordchuk said.
By the end of this year, the Mosaic Company will have invested over $1.5 million into its namesake Mosaic Place as well as $2.2 million into other local programs such as health care, food security and other community programs to help make Moose Jaw a better city in the past nine years.
“In the years to come, you will see Mosaic continue to invest in organizations and initiatives that meet the needs of the local community while matching the business priorities of our company,” Fedorchuk said.
She said the Mosaic Company would still invest in the community but their focus is now changing to assisting in areas of food security and water security. The community investment budget for Mosaic Company will remain the same.
The agreement with the Moose Jaw Warriors will remain the same, Fedorchuk said.
The naming agreement for Mosaic Stadium is a longer agreement and expires in 2036.
Mayor Fraser Tolmie said he and the City was appreciative of Mosaic being part of the first decade of Mosaic Place’s existence.
“Sharing the news now, provides us with time to have meaningful conversations with interested new partners who want to be part of the exciting next chapter of the facility.”
During the search for a new partner the facility which was initially known as the Multi-plex will continue to be called Mosaic Place.
“We are working together to ensure the transition puts the future of the facility first, and with Mosaic’s commitment to provide additional financial support during this time, we are confident the future of the facility and its pandemic recovery planning is on solid ground. Mosaic will always be part of the legacy of the facility and Moose Jaw,” Mayor Tolmie said. “They truly are a classy organization….we are grateful what they are transitioning to.”
