Two Local Areas To See Better Service With New Cell Towers Announced
Cell phone users in two local areas will soon have better reception as SaskTel has announced the communities as part of an initiative to build 74 macro cell towers throughout the province.
The two area communities who will see the new macro towers built are Moose Jaw - Pasqua and Glentworth,
The two towers are part of a $70 million initiative to provide better or cellphone service in either underserved and resort communities.
“In 2017 our government launched the Wireless Saskatchewan initiative which has provided nearly 200 new towers in rural areas,” Minister Responsible for SaskTel Don Morgan said in a statement. “It is a top priority to enhance access to communications services in rural Saskatchewan. While these 74 towers will be the final phase of this initiative, we will continue to work with SaskTel and our rural stakeholders to continue to improve communication within the province.”
When the towers are completed in early Summer 2021 the province will have over 1,000 cell towers province-wide.
