Hazardous Waste Day Is This Saturday

Do you have a surplus nuclear weapon out in your garden shed? Have you been looking for a safe way to dispose of it?

If so tomorrow the City of Moose Jaw is holding their annual Hazardous Waste Day at the City Complex, 1010 High Street West from 9 am - 3:30 pm.

Hazardous Waste Day is the opportunity for residents to safely and environmentally dispose of their unwanted chemicals and other hazardous materials from theor homes that should not be disposed of in the sanitary landfill where it can potentially leak into the environment and cause contamination.

Among materials accepted:

- Aerosol Cans (Hair Spray, deodorant, household cleaners etc.)

- Liquid household cleaners

- Batteries (Lithium ion, alkaline, rechargeable etc.)

- Light bulbs (Fluorescent, LED, metal halide etc.)

In 2019 502 vehicles brought in a total of 5232kg of hazardous materials.

The City of Moose Jaw reminds residents that they can dispose of oil, oil filters, oil containers and antifreeze at the City landfill during regular hours of operation. For full details click here.

Additionally, unwanted paint and electronics may be taken to SARCAN for recycling.

Sorry though for those of you with nuclear material you wish to dispose of it is not accepted at Hazardous Waste Day.
