RCMP Make 50 Kg Cocaine Haul
Two men from Brampton find themselves in serious legal troubles after a traffic stop near Davidson by the Craik RCMP detachment.
On July 3rd a traffic stop turned up 50 kilograms of cocaine and Craik RCMP arresting Jitpartap Singh Bhatti, 24, and Harmdeep Sandhu, 30, on July 3 after a traffic stop for speeding turned up 50 kilograms of cocaine.
During a search of the vehicle police found two duffel bags filled with approximately 50 one-kilogram bricks of cocaine, burner phones and about $3,600 in cash.
When stopped by Craik RCMP Bhatti and Sandhu said they were headed out west on personal business.
In a video statement the RCMP claimed the large seizure would not only disrupt the drug trade but also associated crimes.
“While we are thankful to get the 50 kilograms of cocaine off the street, the true success of this investigation is the complete disruption of this interprovincial drug trafficking operation, and preventing any potential acts of violence, property crime and addiction that is always a price to pay in the drug trade,” Chief Superintendent Alfredo Bangloy said in the video statement.
Bhatti, 24, has been charged with trafficking cocaine.
Sandhu, 30, was charged with trafficking cocaine as well as with possession of proceeds of crime.
Both men appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on July 7th and were released on strict conditions and are set to re-appear on July 27th.
