Shields To Be Held In Custody
A man accused of being involved in a shooting early last Friday morning has been remanded in custody.
Appearing before Judge Daryl Rayner the accused Jordan Shields, 36, was remanded in custody until a show cause hearing on April 2nd at 9:30 am.
Shields is charged with attempted murder using a prohibited weapon, assault with a weapon namely a cane on an individual, assault with a weapon namely a dog on an individual, breaking into a dwelling and breaching four conditions of a release order. The allegations still need to be proven in court.
Shields was wearing a grey flannel long sleeved shirt and blue jeans as he appeared in court from the prisoner's docket.
Defense lawyer Suzanne Jeanson from Saskatchewan Legal Aid represented Shields.
Asked for any response to the charges Shields said he thought one of his release conditions - being inside his residence between 10 pm an 6 am was not in force.
“I understand it was taken off my order,” Shields told Judge Rayner.
Judge Rayner responded it was not the most serious matter Shields is accused of.
Shields responded he had other matters to discuss with his lawyer regarding the charges he is accused of.
Crown prosecutor Stephen Yusuff opposed the accused's release.
Jeanson said she would not be requesting a bail report but would be requesting a show cause hearing.
Shields was remanded into custody and will return to court by videolink on April 2nd at 9:30 am.
