Raffle Proceeds Help Over The Christmas Season
A raffle for City staff (City Hall, City Complex, Sportsplex, Yara Centre and Fire Department) featuring prizes donated by local merchants has raised over $2,000 to assist local charities at Christmas.
Proceeds from the December raffle sponsored two families over Christmas through the Salvation Army’s Adopt A Family Program.
The Adopt A Family Program allows individuals or groups to provide gifts and a meal to a less fortunate family at Christmas.
In addition to helping two families have a Christmas they could not afford the raffle also allowed cash donations to local non-profit and charitable organizations to help meet their needs in what has been a tough year for many local charities and non-profit organizations.
The organizations are:
Transition House
- Riverside Mission
- SCRAPS
- Moose Jaw Families For Change
- Humane Society
- Hunger In Moose Jaw
“I’m proud of our employees for thinking of those less fortunate at this time of year,” Jim Puffalt, City Manager said in a statement. “We thank all charitable organizations in our City for their efforts, and thank the dedication of the individuals from City Hall and City Complex that coordinated the raffle.”
