Incumbents Re-elected In Councillor Race
All three incumbents were re-elected as councillors in Monday’s civic election.
The three incumbents Crystal Froese, Heather Eby and Dawn Luhning finished up second, third and fourth places respectively out of six available councilor seats.
Jamie Logan topped the councillor candidates with 3,858 votes.
Crystal Froese was second with 2,913 votes.
Heather Eby was third with 2,899 votes.
Dawn Luhning was fourth with 2,686 votes.
Kim Robinson was fifth with 2,195 votes.
And Doug Blanc rounded out the field with 2,132 votes beating out Joni Brisbin who came in seventh with 2,115 votes.
Although there is likely to be a recount of some sort with less than ten ballots spoiled it is unlikely it will change the result.
MJ Independent has received two photos from voters of their ballots and how they intentionally spoiled them further reducing the odds of a successful recount in Brisbin’s favour.
“I’m glad I got in and hope that I can make a difference,” Bland told MJ Independent.
“Earlier in the evening I was a little bit nervous,” Blanc said after watching the results at home.
He said that to get elected he had to talk to a lot of people and now that he is elected Blanc said you have to continue to talk to a lot of people and businesses and listen in order to represent them properly.
This is the second time Blanc has run for Council having placed second in the 2018 byelection.
