Outbreak Declared For Central Collegiate's Grade 12

Spending the lunch hour in a friend’s car has lead to a single case of transmission of COVID - 19 between students and also resulted in an outbreak being declared for grade 12 at Central Collegiate.

In a November 15th letter sent to parents by the director of Prairie South School Division (PSSD) Tony Baldwin the single case of transmission between two students came during the noon hour while eating lunch in one of the student’s car.

Although they are suppose to wear masks while in the school PSSD does not force students to wear masks while in private vehicles.

The letter states the positive case as well as close contacts have been notified by public health and will be self isolating for the next 14 days.

The letter also goes on to state that it is safe for students and staff, who have not been notified, to return to school this Monday.

A second letter was sent by the Saskatchewan Health Authority advising Central Collegiate’s principal Stephane Gauvin about the outbreak and how the risk to the school’s general population is considered low.
