Confirmed Case Of COVID - 19 Detected At Central Collegiate
By Robert Thomas
It is the second case of COVID - 19 detected in a Moose Jaw School this week and this time the illness was detected in a high school. And as in the first confirmed case at Prince Arthur School a letter has been sent out to update the school community.
Today a letter was sent out by email to all parents of students who attend Central Collegiate after a positive case of COVID - 19 was detected at the school.
In the letter, signed by school principal Stephane Gauvin, parents are told about someone having being diagnosed with COVID - 19 at the school.
The letter does not identify if the person who caught the illness is a student or staff member. But it does appear given the letter’s semantics that the person with the confirmed case of COVID - 19 was not a volunteer or a visitor to the school. (See the letter below).
The letter also states that if a parent or guardian that the Prairie South School Division (PSSD) has sent a letter to all parents and guardians of all children who were in classrooms with the person who contracted COVID - 19.
Public Health has been or will be contacting all students, staff, visitors and volunteers who may have been in close contact with the individual with the confirmed case of COVID - 19.
In an interview with MJ Independent about a case at Prince Arthur School the superintendent of PSSD Tony Baldwin said all schools have enacted special procedures to help prevent and potential spread of the virus to others.
Those measures included records being kept as to who students were close to in groups, classes and other settings inside all PSSD schools. Those records are then shared with public health to assist with their contact tracing if a case is confirmed.
In the accompany cover note, to which the letter was attached to, parents are advised that unless they hear differently from public health Central Collegiate will resume all classes on Monday. (See the cover note below).
