The significant water main break last week, located just north of the intersection of Caribou Street West and 9th Avenue NW, is once again under repair but this time it is in the intersection.

Last week’s significant break had water entering the sanitary sewer system causing flooding of the basement of William Grayson Schook as well as residential basements as far away as the 500 block of Fairford Street West was repaired in bittely cold and windy conditions with crews working into the weekend to effect repairs.

Due to problems with a service connection related to the main break the City has temporarily closed the intersection while repairs are being made.

The intersection is expected to re-open to traffic by Friday, January 24, weather permitting.

Detours are in place and the City asks all drivers to obey posted signage and exercise caution in the construction zone for everyone’s safety.
