Exhibition Company Offers Assistance To Meet Horses

It’s a question MJ Independent has been asked by parents of children with disabilities and that is can their children come out and pet the horses to see how they interact? Others have asked can their children come and pet the horses before they invest in riding lessons or even buying a horse? If there is a horse show on, that is open to the public, is it possible to come and interact with the horses?

According to George Fowler general manager of the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company although it is possible at many shows at others it is not.

“It might be possible it all depends on the show they are at, it depends how competitive they are. Some shows are highly competitive and they want to totally focus on the show,” Fowler said.

With that said Fowler said the horse community is very welcoming and if someone has children who would like to come and see and pet horses – but not ride them – the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company is more than happy to set something up.

But he does ask call the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company office first at 306 692-2723 and they will do their best to arrange something.

“We will try to hook them up with a specific time to come out and look and interact with the horses,” Fowler said, adding ‘It’s not good to just show up though but please phone first so we can arrange something “

He cautions also that like people horses have different temperaments and not all are good with children. The Moose Jaw Exhibition Company will find horses good for kids to see and pet if there are any requests.

Fowler said he fully understands there are also parents who want to see how their children react to horses first before they take them the next step and riding.

‘I can fully understand parents would want to see how their child reacts around horses before they decide to take them riding.”

Horse Therapy is a growing phenomenon as people and healthcare practitioners realize the calming effects of being around horses.

Horse Therapy has proven itself as opening the doors of calmness and improving the lives of many suffering with Autism.

If people want to go that one step further and take riding lessons, something the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company does not offer, Fowler said he is more than willing to point those interested in the right direction.
