Mac's Closes Two Subway Locations

Robert Thomas

In what was described as a shock, Mac's has closed two of its three Subway restaurant locations in the city.

According to a staff member who didn't want to have their name printed, when employees arrived for their early morning shift they were advised of their terminations.

"We came to work and were all fired without warning. They told us the decision was just made so they couldn't give us any notice they were closing. They blamed it on bad sales," the former employee stated.

With the closure, the remaining Subway in a Mac's store will be the one at the South Hill Mac's location.

The two locations that closed are the Main St. N location and the one on 9th Ave. N

The closure leaves three Subways restaurants still operating in the city. Two of which are privately owned. The other locations are downtown and Thatcher Drive East

An attempt to get a comment from Mac's was unsuccessful.

Approximately 10 people lost their jobs.
