Movie Lovers Can Rejoice The Theatre Re-Opens Today
By Robert Thomas
The smell of hot buttered popcorn is about to fill the air. The Galaxy Theatre is re-opening this afternoon.
The Galaxy was closed as part of measures designed to prevent the spread of COVID - 19 under the Province's declared State of Emergency.
Although other Cineplex theatres opened on July 3rd in the province the theatre chain chose not to re-open its Moose Jaw location at that time.
In an online video statement Elias Jacobs welcomes moviegoers back into the chain's theatres.
“There is nothing like the big screen and I am sure you missed visiting the theatre as much as I did,” Jacobs said in the statement.
“Your health and safety as well as that of our team is our top priority. In addition to following all guidelines from Canada's provincial governments as well as the country's public health authorities we are also working in partnership with leading infectious disease experts,” he said.
The new safety protocols will change how moviegoers experience the theatre.
Safety measures undertaken include:
a mask optional policy. Anybody needing a mask will be provided one for free. Moviegoers are encouraged to wear a mask.
arrive np earlier than 15 minutes before the movie. Anyone arriving earlier than this may be asked to wait outside.
moviegoers are encouraged to purchase tickets on-line through www.cineplex.com or the Cineplex app.
Follow the assigned seating chart designed to follow proper physical distancing guidelines.
Concession choices may be limited.
Seats are cleaned between shows and theatres are deep cleaned every evening.
