Mural Repair/Restoration Program Underway

As part of a restoration and replication project Moose Jaw artist Grant McLaughlin is giving some TLC to give murals this year.

The four murals being repaired at a cost of $500 per mural are:

  • Veterinarian Mural (2007, by Noella Cotnam) on the 0 block of Hochelaga Street West; touch-ups required on faded areas

  • A Tribute to the Métis Community (2007, by Ray Renooy) on the 0 block of Hochelaga Street West; touch-ups required on faded areas

  • Centennial Mural (1992, by Grant McLaughlin) in the Crescent Park Amphitheatre; graffiti damage and other repairs required

  • Hopes and Dreams (1991, by Grant McLaughlin) at 21 Fairford Street West wall; requires cleaning and waxing

The mural on the south wall of the Golden Nugget Building at the Moose Jaw Exhibition grounds (which depicts the history of the Moose Jaw Exhibition) will be restored at a cost of $4,500.

McLaughlin said his choice of colours are bright and vivid on the Exhibition mural so it stands out from a distance.
