Moose Jaw Exhibition News Briefs

There are a number of activities going on at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company.

BURROWING OWLS:

Attendance has been steady, with more people coming in the mornings to avoid the heat in the afternoon.

The pairs that Lori was hoping would breed did not end up producing any eggs this year.

This is a bit of a disappointment, not only to us but to Manitoba and Alberta as well.
Lori had SaskTel Max at the Centre on July 15 to film a spot-on TV about the burrowing owls.

We are hoping this will be a good promotion for the Centre and for burrowing owls in general.

CONVENTION CENTRES:

Bookings have been steady with a wide variety of events.

This past weekend was the car show, followed by a combine clinic this week.

GROUNDS:

We have had a few comments from people about how good the grounds are looking.

The maintenance have been doing a great job with mowing and weed whipping.

The reclaim seemed to hold up pretty well during the fair.

There is still some packing to be done on it to have it settle into place. There are three or four places in the asphalt that have shown up that we should probably take care of.

Employees are working on the price to take care of them.

Staying on top of our asphalt is important as it takes more money to fix the problem areas.

EQUINE:

The equine area is going to be very busy over the next five weeks with the following events renting our facilities:
- Sask Reined Cow Horse Assoc: July 26, 27 & 28
- Sask Cutting Horse Assoc: August 1, 2, 3 & 4

- Sask Barrel Racing Provincials: August 11-15

- Testing Bucking Horse Event: August 17

- Working Equitation of Canada Cross National Cup: August 25 - Sept 1
