Chinese Community Network Hold Lantern Festival

It was a night of dancing, music, singing, colorful gowns and of course food as the Moose Jaw Chinese Community Network held a Chinese Lantern Festival Saturday evening at the Grant Hall Hotel.

With attendance at about 150 the audience was all part of the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival held 15 days after the start of the Chinese (or lunar) New Year.

Lantern Festivals or Yuan Xiao Jie are held to mark the end of the New Year's festivities.

The festival coincides with the first New Moon of the year.

The lanterns hold a meaning of letting go the past year and lighting a bright future for the year to come.
