Rosie's Best Burger Part Of Canada Beef Campaign To Assist Food Banks

Each week Rosie's On River Street - 11 River Street West - offers a different gourmet burger to its clientele but that has changed for February.
The popular local eatery hasn’t run out of burger ideas but rather they will be offering one of their most popular burgers for all of February to help out a good cause.
For February Rosie's will be offering their Hawkins’ Mac and Cheese Burger as part of the Burger It Forward campaign put on by Canada Beef.

As part of the campaign for every featured burger - including Rosie's own Hawkins’ Mac and Cheese Burger - sold at participating eateries nationwide from February 1 - 28 Canada Beef will donate the equivalent of one meal to Food Banks Canada (to a maximum of 20,000 meals) - based upon $1 = two meals.
“Any time we can give back to a local charity we're happy to do it,” Chris Schubert co-owner of Rosie's On River Street told MJ Independent.
Schubert said the burger chosen was a very popular when it was introduced for one week in April 2022.
“It was a hit in April so we decided to put our best foot forward for this promotion,” he said.
Asked to describe the taste Schubert said it was his favourite so far of all of the weekly burgers Rosie's has offered its clientele.
“We are pulling out all of the stops as far as taste goes,” he said.
The burger is a layered taste sensation made with real Hawkins Cheezies along with Mac and Cheese, pulled pork prepared in-house with a mango BBQ sauce at Rosie's, Swiss cheese, a whisky mayonnaise sauce and of course locally sourced beef on a toasted pretzel bun.
Helping out needy people who are economically impacted and now relying on food banks is one part of the campaign.
The other part is to help out Canadian restaurants and promote Canadian beef.
Schubert said he is very happy with the locally sourced beef Rosie's serves.
He said the beef provided by Kattle Kountry Beef out of Mortlach was the right price, great quality and locally sourced making it a “no brainer to use it.”
It’s something Rosie’s tries its best to do - buying its products as locally as possible to supply the eatery.
According to the promotion web-site Canada Beef is not just promoting Canadian beef as a protein source but also helping Canadians struggling due to the present economic conditions.
“As food banks struggle to keep up with demand, Burger It Forward aims to “beef up” the protein portion of food bank offerings while supporting locally owned restaurants,” a release from Canadian beef said.
As part of wanting to help out people struggling and making use of food banks there will also be provincial beef cattle farmer and rancher associations in each participating region making donations to regional food banks with either ground beef donations or a cash contribution.
“As a not-for-profit organization that supports and promotes nourishing food that comes from Canadian farmers, one of the goals of this campaign is to help support the efforts of food banks and hunger relief programs so Canadians don’t go hungry,” Joyce Parslow, Executive Director of Consumer Marketing at Canada Beef said in a statement.
“Food insecurity continues to grow in our country, and we want to support those affected the most,” Parslow said.
It’s something reported here locally by the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank that more people are showing up for help due to rising costs and inflation.
It’s a message Schubert agrees with and the driving reason Rosie's On River Street is part of the campaign - to help out through focusing attention to the issue and also seeing something tangible financially to help fix it.
The restaurant is planning on making a donation to the local food bank.
Additionally as part of the promotion there is an opportunity for people buying the featured burgers nationwide to win $500.

Rosie's On River Street is one of ten restaurants in Saskatchewan participating in the campaign. Nationally there are over 90 restaurants in six regions participating.
