WDM Admission Free This Saturday Compliments Bank Of Montreal

Free Day At The Museum To Also Host Volunteer Information Session

If you ever wanted to go out and see what the Western Development Museum (WDM) has to offer here in Moose Jaw as well as its other three locations - North Battleford, Yorkton and Saskatoon - you need to mark this Saturday September 16th on your calendar as it is a free admission day.

As part of a sponsorship deal with the Bank of Montreal admission to any of the four WDM’s is free as the bank is picking up the tab.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this to visitors,” Karla Rasmussen education and public programs coordinator with the WDM in Moose Jaw.

“Sometimes admission costs can be prohibitive and this is a great way for folks to come up and experience the WDM.

Although the WDM does offer a family admission pass for about $25 the costs of attending the WDM can still be prohibitive for some.

“If you are bringing extended family, families from out of town the prices can be a bit higher,” she said, adding “we also do recommend for people who visit us on a regular basis, not just here in Moose Jaw but they are travelers and would like to see the other locations as well a membership is a really beneficial way to go.”

Memberships offer free admission on certain dates, a reduced admission on some special events and a discount in the gift shop at all four WDM locations.

“That is something that can really pay for itself in three visits or less depending what option they go for.”

The WDM welcomes people who have never visited the museum, people who have visited years ago and even those who attended the June free admission day paid for by the Bank of Montreal are welcome to attend for free.

The WDM’s hours on Saturday are from 9 am - 5 pm.

Volunteer Information Session

While the free admission day is underway anyone thinking about or wanting to volunteer at the WDM are invited to a Volunteer Information on Saturday as well.

Traditionally held as a volunteer blitz in January this Saturday afternoon’s Volunteer Information Session is an opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering at the WDM and come and learn about it.

You do not have to attend the volunteer information session in order to take advantage of the free admission to the WDM but if you wish to attend the volunteer information session at the same time you are more than welcome to do so.

“Because we are just starting up our events after the pandemic we are looking for more help. We are looking to see some new faces to come in and lend a hand,” Rasmussen said.

The Volunteer Information Session starts at 2 pm and runs for about an hour.
