A Friendly Long Weekend Reminder

A sign planted in the boulevard of the 0 block of Manitoba Street West serves as a friendly reminder that people who drive impaired that you can be caught.

The signage is part of a campaign by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI), and the Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) to help point out the dangers and consequences of impaired driving.

The program started April 1st and has the signs popping up all over the city.

The campaign is designed to raise awareness of the consequences of driving impaired and help encourage the public to help out by reporting unsafe drivers and impaired drivers.

If you suspect a driver is impaired the signage encourages you to pull over to a safe spot, stop and dial 911 and report the suspected impaired drivers under the Report Impaired Drivers (RID) program.

With this being the long weekend the MJPS as well as the RCMP are being extra vigilant in looking for impaired drivers.

SGI says they do not care what legal substance people partake in but just do not drive while impaired.
