This Weekend It Is Once Again Time To Count Birds

If you are looking for something to do this weekend Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) says think about counting birds.

This weekend NCC is holing its 25th annual Great Backyard Bird Count.

The event runs from February 18th to 21st and can be done in 15 minutes in your own backyard. For those who cannot leave the house you can participate by looking out your window and counting the number of birds around your bird feeder.

Last year the event had 43,465 lists submitted form all provinces and territories.

Participants can document what they see and here through the eBird app .

By submitting through the App you are automatically entered to win a pair of Zeiss Terra 8×42 binoculars worth over $500 retail. One pair is going to a lucky winner.

By participating residents are assisting ornithologists in tracking and documenting the number of birds in not only Moose Jaw but throughout Canada.

To assist birdwatchers/counters there is additionally a free Merlin App available to help you document what type of bird you see and hear.

For more information you can go to the Great Canadian Bird Count’s website . Or birdcount.org .
