Its a tradition that has been going on for over 30 years as the annual Moose Gun Show takes place this weekend.

Put on by the South Saskatchewan Wildlife Association the annual gun show is not just an opportunity to come out and view guns and talk about guns with knowledgeable dealers but it is also an opportunity to help support the local club.

The South Saskatchewan Association uses the proceeds to fund its various programs which include firearm safety courses, the Saskatchewan biathalon, the indoor range, air pistol and rifle target shooting, pheasant release program as well as outdoor education programs at local schools, Allen Dyck organizer of the event.

The event will feature 48 vendors from Saskatchewan and Alberta but it is not all about guns, Dyck said adding there will be the pie lady, the sock lady and the very well known belt guy also in attendance. There is also going to be knife makers as well.

The Department of Natural Resources, Department of Environment, Dragoons will be in attendance.

For people looking for collectible firearms and the like there will be something there for them as well.

Anyone wishing to purchase a firearm or ammunition must possess a valid PAL as the show will strictly enforcing the federal laws and regulations.

The Gun Show runs Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and again on Sunday 10 am to 3 pm at the Convention Centre located at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds - 250 Thatcher Drive East. Admission is five dollars.
