Man Charged With Attempted Murder Remanded Until Bail Hearing
A man charged with three counts of attempted murder involving a May 30th incident will be sitting a little while longer in custody as the Crown has opposed his release.
Ryan Milne, 41, of Moose Jaw made his first court appearance in Provincial Court this morning where court was told the Crown has elected to proceed with the alleged offence as indictment.
Indictment is the most serious way for the Crown to proceed on a criminal matter usually indicating they are seeking a term of incarceration.
Representing Milne was Legal Aid lawyer Merv Shaw who asked that a bail hearing be set for his client.
Judge Brian Hendrickson agreed to the bail hearing to be held on June 11th.
According to a Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) news release the arrest was made after an individual intentionally rammed another vehicle at the intersection of Thatcher Drive East and the Trans Canada Highway.
“Through the investigation, it was determined that one of the pick-up trucks was traveling at a high rate of speed and intentionally rear-ended the other pick-up truck, which had three occupants within the vehicle. Following the collision the male assaulted the driver of the other vehicle with a baseball bat,” the release stated.
The release additionally stated that the four people involved in the incident were known to each other.
Reliable sources with knowledge of the alleged incident have told MJ Independent the alleged incident and events leading up to it was part of a personal dispute between the parties. They indicated - despite rumours - the dispute is not drug related.
The MJPS has requested the public, who have information about or any video of the incident, to get ahold of them.
