Saskatchewan Dragoons To Present Old Guidon At City Hall

There will be a short military parade tomorrow as the Saskatchewan Dragoons will be heading down Main Street at 1:45 pm.

The parade route will be on Main St. from the Armouries heading south and turning right on to High St from Main St. Then Proceeding north on to 1st Ave from High St. and then right on to Ominica St. to return to Main St. and roll past City Hall one more time.

The reason for the parade is the unveiling of the Old Guidon in its display case. The Old Guidon will be on display at the entrance of City Hall.

The Dragoons received a new Guidon in 2019.

A guidon is a pennant that narrows to a point or fork at its end.

The parade will be organizing at 1 pm at the Armouries located at 1215 Main Street.

Utilizing the principle “Freedom of the City” the Dragoons will be using their available vehicles to head south on Main Street from the Armouries to City Hall.

Freedom of the City is an honour bestowed by a municipality upon a valued member of the community, or upon a visiting celebrity or dignitary.

Following the ceremony the Dragoons will be returning to the Armouries for a small ceremony.

During the parade and ceremony road closures will be in place on Main Street from Civic Centre Drive to High St.

Main Street in front of City Hall had temporary parking restrictions since 4 pm Friday.
