The Catch - Photo Story

Photos and Text by Robert Thomas

There were plenty of good plays on Saturday as three games were held in the Kinsmen Moose Jaw Minor Football League action on Saturday.

But the greatest play of the day happened in the U14 matchup between the Moose Jaw Raiders and the Estevan Oilers.

In the first quarter leading 6 - 0 Raiders quarterback Traeten Potvin aired a deep pass to Calum Seargeant who had a one step advantage Oilers defender Faber Nash.

The pass would result in by far the prettiest play of the weekend.

We will let the pictures tell the story.

Moose Jaw Raiders receiver Calum Seargent (left) turns to make a catch against Swift Current Steelers defender Faber Nash…

…both Calum Seargent (left) and Faber Nash put their hands up to try and catch the ball…

…the ball is within the grasp of both Calum Seargent (left) and Faber Nash finger tips….

…the ball pops through and bounces off of Calum Seargeant’s forearm (left) and stays alive as Faber Nash attempts to grab the ball…

….Calum Seargent (left) bobbles the ball as Faber Nash still has the opportunity to grab it for possession…

…Calum Seargent (left) would bobble the ball forward as Faber Nash falls behind the play…

…the ball would be bobbled numerous times by Calum Seargent (left) as he attempts to gain control of it. Faber Nash is now two steps behind…

…Calum Seargent (left) would ultimately make the catch despite tight and persistent coverage by Faber Nash…

…with Calum Seargent (left) now in possession of the ball Faber Nash would attempt to make the tackle…

…despite Faber Nash attempting to bring down his opponent Calum Seargent (left) would break the tackle…

…after breaking the tackle Calum Seargent (left) would head into the end zone with the touchdown making the score 12 - 0 in the Raiders favour.
