Two Accused Face Long List Of Charges

The Moose Jaw Police Sevice has taken Matina Valentini, 39, of Calgary, and Moose Jaw resident Chad Gienow, 38, into custody, following an investigation into stolen propety, that led to a significant drug seizure.

On October 23, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Police received a report of a stolen skid steer.

With the help of the Ciminal Investigation Section CIS and the Canine Unit, officers were able to track the stolen skid steer to a garage in the 1200 block of 9th Avenue Northeast.

After gaining access to the garage, Police located the stolen skid steer, along with Valentini and Gienow, who were arrested without incident.

Within the garage, a substantial amount of drugs, cash, and an imitation fiream were located and seized.

In total, 439 grams of Fentanyl was seized.

Fentanyl is vey potent and dangerous and is commonly broken up into “points” for use, which is 0.1 grams.

When broken up into individual doses, the total street value of the fentanyl seized is in excess of $175,000.

In addition, 51.9 grams of Cocaine was found with an approximate street value of $5200, along with drug trafficking paraphenalia, and $4640 of Canadian currency.

Police also discovered approximately 1 kilogram of an unknown substance and are currently working to determine the exact nature of the substance.

As a result, Valentina is facing the following charges:

  • Breach of Release Order x3

  • Breach of Weapons Prohibition

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purposes

  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5000

  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000

  • Obstrusting a Police Officer

  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

  • Possession of Crack Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

  • Possession of Hydromorphone

  • Possession of Methylphenidate

    Gienow is facing the following charges:

  • Breach of a Weapons Prohibition

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5000

  • Possession of Propety Obtained by Crime under $5000

  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

  • Possession of Crack Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

  • Possession of Hydromorphone

  • Possession of Methylphenidate

    Both have been remanded into Police custody and will be making their first court appearance on Wednesday.
