Two Police Officers Receive Medal For Long Service

Two long-time Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) members were honoured for their years of service last week in Regina at the Govenment of Saskatchewan Protocol Office.

Deputy Chief Rick Johns, and Staff Sergeant Trish Seman were each presented with a Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal by Lieutenant Governor, Russ Mirasty.

For 25 years, Deputy Chief Johns has been a member of the MJPS.

Over his career, he has worked in our Community Policing Division, Community and Strategic Sevices Unit, Integrated Organized Ctime, and the Criminal Investigation Section CIS.

This all led to his current role as the MJPS’s Deputy Chief, a position he has held for five years.

“It was an honour to attend the Govenment House and receive this medal from Lieutenant Govenor, Russ Mirasty.” says Deputy Chief Johns. “It was also a privilege to watch many other first responders in the province be recognized with a Protective Sevices Medal for their contributions to public safety.”

S/Sgt. Seman has been with the MJPS for 28 years and curently leads the Information Management Unit IMU.

Throughout her time with the Service, she has been a part of the Community Policing Division, Community and Strategic Sevices Unit, and the Criminal Investigation Section CIS.

“It has been a great honour and privilege to work with incredible people and serve my community for 28 years,” said S/Sgt. Seman.

The Saskatchewan Protective Sevices Medal recognizes exemplary long sevice for individuals working in a direct capacity to protect people and/or property and supervisory personnel in the public service sectors who ensure the safety, security, and protection of Saskatchewan citizens.
