Flyers Pull Off Win In Double Overtime

Just over 225 spectators were on hand at the Milestone Rink on Wednesday evening as the Milestone 18A Female Flyers pulled off a grueling 4 - 3 second overtime period win against the visiting Balcarras Barracudas in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League (SFHL) action.

The game saw the Flyers dominate the first two periods with the Barracudas turn up the heat in the third period.

The scoring was opened in the First Period at the 8:52 mark when Allison Duncan scored an unassisted goal.

Milestone took a two goal lead on a goal by Ember DuSomme at the 4:54 mark assisted by Duncan.

The Second Period saw Milestone take a three goal lead at the 15:59 mark when Sidney Ellingson scored assisted by Callie Callaghan.

The Third Period saw the Barracudas strike and tear into the Flyers lead when Madeline Bray scored at the 17:37 mark assisted by Jas,mine Macknak.

The Barracudas continued to attack when Macknak scored at 9:34 assisted by Jaylynn Keisig.

With the final minute of the Third Period winding down the Barracudas managed to score with 24 seconds remaining in regulation time forcing overtime. The goal was scored by Kendal Yakamoski assisted by Keira Gervais and Sierra Ginnis.

The First Overtime Period was scoreless.

The game winner came about with three Moose Mavericks products in on the goal.

At the 8:14 mark of the Second Overtime Period Moose Jaw’s own Ember DuSomme scored assisted by Ellingson and Nikita Halyk.

By all reports the large and very loud crowd at the Milestone Rink went wild.

The next game in the series is Saturday March 12 at 6 pm in Balcarres.

If game three is necessary it will be held Sunday March 13 at 7:15 pm in Milestone.
