SaskTel Pioneers Make Donation To Regional Heritage Fair
The SaskTel Pioneers presented a $500 cheque to the Moose Jaw Regional Heritage Fair on Friday afternoon.
The funds will be used to help pay the expenses of Regional Heritage Fair to be held April 30th at the Western Development Museum.
Participating students from Grades 4 to 8 prepare projects on topics about local, provincial or national history.
Students are chosen from school-based Heritage Fairs in Moose Jaw and the surrounding areas to participate in the Moose Jaw Regional Heritage Fair.
Projects are judged by dedicated volunteers who evaluate the projects on the basis of student research, knowledge and the display they create. From those 60 students, projects will be chosen to attend the Provincial Showcase in Regina in June.
The Heritage Fair program is an excellent opportunity for students to learn research, writing and public speaking skills, as well as ignite the students' interest in history.
At the Regional and Provincial Fairs, they have the opportunity to share their knowledge with their peers and with the public, as well as learn about their community, their province and their country.
Sponsorship, such as that provided by the SaskTel Pioneers, for the Moose Jaw Regional Heritage Fair helps with expenses like awards and medallions for the winners, transportation and admission for the participants to take part in a cultural excursion in the city, and helps with snacks and meals.
This annual event would not be possible without the support of local organizations and businesses
